Dismissal order of Pipili IIC irrevocable: Govt
Bhubaneswar:
The Odisha government on Friday made it clear that its action in dismissing the Pipili IIC was irrevocable.

The delegation of Odisha Constable and Sepoy Federation led by its president Padmanav Behera met chief secretary Bijay Patnaik at the State Secretariat and submitted a memorandum in support of their long-standing demands.

Briefing newsmen after the meeting, Behera said that if the state government will not consider the ultimatum relating to the withdrawal of the termination order from AK Champatiray, the OCSF would extend its moral support to the Odisha Police Officers’ Association.

Describing the action of the state government as undesirable, Behera said that during the discussion on various demands of the association, he had urged the chief secretary to withdraw the termination order from Champatiray.

He said that his Association would support any future courses of action to be taken by the Police Officers Association after February 5.

OCSF would sit on February 6 to chalk out the future course of action on the fallout of Pipili gang rape incident, he said.

However, the chief secretary, he said, had clarified that the action was taken against the erring IIC of Pipili as per Constitutional provisions and there was no question of withdrawing the order.

On the demands of the sepoy and constables, he lamented that the state government was not serious on their problems whether it was the question of rehabilitation of the families of police men being killed in Maoists attacks or filling up of large number of vacancies in the police force.

Behera said that he had demanded for increase in the police force and undertaking capacity building of policemen, taking up infrastructure development of police establishments, more facilities to the police personnel and announcement of cadre rules for the constables.

The chief secretary has assured to take necessary steps to fulfill the reasonable demands considering the financial position, he said.
