Sringar: Jammu and Kashmir police said on Monday they have arrested as many as 20 people accused in the lynching of DSP Ayub Pandith last month, sources said.
More arrests are expected to be made soon, as per sources.
One of the accused, Hizbul Mujahideen terrorist Sajid Ahmad Gilkar, was killed in an encounter earlier this month. Gilkar and his associates Aaqib Gul and Javaid Ahmad Shiekh were killed in an overnight gunbattle with security forces in the Redbugh area of Budgam on July 12.
Notably, Pandith died after a mob brutally attacked and stoned him outside the Jamia Masjid in Srinagar. Pandith was on frisking duty outside the Jamia Masjid and was reportedly clicking pictures of people coming out of the mosque, as per sources.
