Kalahandi/ Mayurbhanj: Vigilance sleuths on Tuesday conducted raids on the offices and houses of two engineers of Kalahandi district on the allegations of possessing assets disproportionate to their known sources of income.
The accused were identified as Pitabas Mahakud, Soil Conservation Overseer of both Narla and M.Rampur Block and Basudev Maharana, Assistant Engineer of Kesinga Block in Kalahandi district.
Acting on a search warrant issued by the Special Vigilance Judge, two teams led by DSP Satyaban Mahananda, carried out simultaneous raids at Mahakud’s residential houses located at Sripali village, Narla, a triple storied building at Paikpada and office chamber at Narla and M.Rampur Block.
Besides raids were also conducted in the house of his daughter Premika Nai Jindal at M.Rampur and Ash Bricks Factory situated at Sripali owned by Mahakud.
Similarly, the vigilance officials conducted raids at Basudev Maharana’s residence at Irrigation Colony, Bhawanipatna, his paternal house at Paikapad in M.Rampur, his in-laws house, numbers of duplex buildings owned by the accused situated near M.Rampur College and his office chamber at Kesinga Block.
According to sources, the vigilance officials have seized Rs 2 lakh cash from Maharana’s office and residence.
In a similar incident, vigilance sleuths also conducted searches at the houses and office of Pravakar Parida, head clerk at MPC Autonomous College at Baripada on the allegations of possession of disproportionate assets.
