Cuttack: In a visit, officials from Central Zoo Authority of India (CZA) condemned Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) finding a huge population of 187 deer in the confined spaced deer park at Cuttack’s Tulsipur.
According to its guidelines, the 4 acres spread park has to bear 15 deer for better movement conditions and nourishment whereas in past years their population increased gradually and now the deer park has got very clumsy for living 187 deer.
However, in the year 1981 seven deer from Nandankanan were brought in to the Tulsipur deer park while during first visit of the zoo authorities in 2008, officials sensed upcoming space inadequacy and proposed CMC for constructing another deer park in the city to move some of them from the over populated park. But CMC drew back for the proposed park due to failure in capturing possession of the identified location at Munduli.
As per sources, CMC has spotted 12 acres of land for constructing the second deer park but the proposal is expected to be developed by coming years.
