Bhubaneswar: As many as 17, 000 teaching and nonteaching posts in Government and Government-aided high schools are lying vacant across Odisha. Minister of School and Mass Education Debi Prasad Mishra stated this in the State Assembly on Thursday while responding to a question by Dillip Ray (BJP).
In his statement, he informed the Assembly that there are 4626 Government, 656 fully aided and 2608 partly aided high schools in the state. The Government high schools alone have 7324 teaching posts vacancy including 3, 000 posts of science teachers.
About 2192 schools have regular headmasters whereas 2434 Government high schools don’t have regular headmasters. He also told that the vacant headmaster posts would be filled by promoting experienced teachers.
Mishra added, there are 681 teaching and 353 nonteaching posts vacant in the aided high schools while more than 3000 posts are vacant in the Block Grant high schools.
