16 wagons of goods train derail in Odisha, many trains cancelled

Cuttack: As many as 16 wagons of a goods train have been derailed at DN line near Nergundi station in Odisha today. The incident occurred in the wee hours following which rail traffic on the route was disrupted.

No loss of life has been reported so far. Top railway officials including DRM Khordha road personally have reached the spot to take stock of the situation.

All up and down trains have been diverted via Naraj and Kapilas road bypassing Cuttack and passing trains will be provided with stoppages at Kapilas road and Naraj.

18451 Hatia-Puri Tapaswini express and 07182 Secunderabad-Howrah special have been diverted via Naraj.

Rajdhani express today will go via Naraj with stoppage at Naraj station

58407 Bhadrak-Bhubaneswar Passenger, 58411 Bhubaneswar-Brahmapur Passenger, 58412 Brahmapur-Bhubaneswar Passenger, 58424 & 58436 Cuttack-Bhadrak Passenger, 58423 & 58435 Bhadrak-Cuttack Passenger have been cancelled following the accident.

The goods train that met accident was coming from Gangavaram Port and was heading toward Haibargaon (HBN) in Assam of N F Rly loaded with fertilizers.

Important information:

Rajdhani exp to New Delhi will go via Barang-Kapilas road bypassing Cuttack. Passengers to board at Cuttack may like to avail the services of bus organised by Railways at Cuttack Railway station. This bus will take them to Kapilas road. The train will have adequate stoppage time at both Naraj and Kapilas road.

Train No 12277, Howrah-Puri Shatabdi exp will leave Howrah at 1700hrs instead of 1425hrs, 12073 Howrah-Bhubaneswar Janshatabdi Exp will leave Howrah at 1615hrs instead if 1325hrs, 12892 Bhubaneswar-Bangiriposi Exp from Bhubaneswar will leave today at 1930hrs instead of 1710hrs.

Notably, on September 23, a coach of Agra-Gwalior passenger train had derailed near Agra Cantt. Railway Station.

Earlier on September 14, a coach of Jammu Tawi-New Delhi Rajdhani Express had derailed at the New Delhi Railway Station.

At least 23 people were killed as Puri-Haridwar Kalinga Utkal Express derailed in Khatauli near Muzaffarnagar in Uttar Pradesh on August 19.

The incident has led to cancellation of several passenger trains. A few trains have also been diverted due to the derailment, said East Coast Railways officials.

Trains those were cancelled- 58407 Bhadrak-Bhubaneswar Passenger, 58411 Bhubaneswar-Berhampur Passenger and 58412 Berhampur-Bhubaneswar Passenger, 58424 and 58436 Cuttack-Bhadrak Passenger, 58423 and 58435 Bhadrak-Cuttack Passenger.

The diverted trains are- 22811 Rajdhani Express will be diverted via Barang/Kapilas Road bypassing Cuttack, 18451 Hatia-Puri Tapaswini Express will be diverted via Naraj and 07182 Secunderabad-Howrah Special will also be diverted via Naraj.
