Lucknow: As many as 16 people were killed and 12 others suffered injuries in rain-related incidents in Uttar Pradesh since Saturday, sources said on Sunday.
Shahjahanpur bore the maximum brunt of the monsoon, where at least six people were reportedly killed in lightning incidents while seven others injured on Saturday.
While rains continued to lash the region, throwing life out of gear in the state, the meteorological department predicted more rainfall throughout the state for the next two days.
The relief commissioner in a statement on Sunday said that six people lost their lives in Shahjahanpur, while three deaths were reported from Sitapur district of the state.
Moreover, 18 animals died in the state and as many as 461 houses/huts were damaged in the rain, the statement said.
