Bhubaneswar: Commissionerate Police (CP) has lodged cases against 140 persons in the twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack for violating Supreme Court directives on bursting of crackers.
The CP has identified nearly 370 persons in the Twin City for violating rule made by the apex court.
Taking strict action against violators, the CP has lodged cases against 140 persons for allegedly getting involved in bursting crackers before 8 pm and after 10 pm on Diwali yesterday.
Besides, Rs 1.15 lakh fine has been collected from 230 people for violating the rule, Police Commissioner Satyajit Mohanty informed.
The police move comes after the people in Cuttack and Bhubaneswar violated the Supreme Court directive which had set a time limit to burst firecrackers between 8 pm to 10 pm in Diwali.
