Keonjhar: As many as 12 child labourers, including 10 girls and 2 boys, of Keonjhar district, who had gone missing for the last eight months, have been rescued from New Delhi.
As per reports, two brokers had taken the children from Nipo village in the district on the pretext of providing them work in a sweet shop in Bhubaneswar, but instead the children were trafficked to Delhi.
The family members of the children had approached the district Collector with the matter. Finally the children were rescued by combined efforts of the district administration, the Childline and the police.
As per reports, the children were engaged in domestic work in some Delhi households. As per the statement by an official of the District Child Welfare Committee, a seven-member team was formed to rescue the children who were tortured and engaged in different parts of the national capital.
However, all the children will be produced before the Child Welfare Committee for due course of action.
