Aul: A 12-hour dawn-to-dusk bandh called by the Aul and Kanika Joint Working Committee demanding sub-division status for the block has badly affected normal life in the area today.

Shops and other business establishments remained closed. Both government and private offices, schools also remained shut. Vehicular traffic was disrupted as vehicles stayed off the roads at several places in Aul and Rajkanika blocks of Kendrapara district in response to the strike.

Pro-bandh activists held road blockades burning tyres and picketed before different offices.

The outfit is observing the bandh demanding sub-division status for the block as it fulfils all criteria for inclusion in sub-division list.

“We have been demanding sub-division status for the block and it fulfills all criteria needed but the district administration has remained callous towards our legitimate demand,” said a protester.
