10 dead, dozens missing after boat sinks in Brazil


Sao Paulo: At least 10 people were killed and dozens feared missing in northern Brazil after a boat sank overnight in the Amazon basin, sources said.

As per sources, the boat was traveling on the Xingu River when it sank late Tuesday. The cause was not immediately clear.

According to the victims who were rescued got out by swimming, said the boat went down about 500 meters (1,640 feet) from the riverbank.

Notably, on August 2, nine people were listed missing in Para state when a group of rafts and a container ship collided on the Amazon river.
